Extra money for Welsh NHS hospitals
Commenting on the UK Conservative Government’s announcement of an extra £2.7 billion extra funding for new hospitals today, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Angela Burns AM, said:
“The Welsh Labour-led Government will be getting an extra £167 million following this announcement however, once again it is up to Welsh Labour on how to spend this. The Welsh Conservatives will be pushing the Welsh Government to spend this money on making sure that our Welsh NHS, the hard-working staff and patients have the facilities that they need.
“The extra funding for our Welsh NHS is thanks to the UK Conservative Government’s management of the economy, repairing the damage caused by the last UK Labour Government. We will get Brexit done and the Welsh Conservatives will continue to hold the Welsh Government to account, so they can no longer hide behind Brexit so they don’t have to be accountable over their failings in our Welsh NHS and our education system.”
Speaking following the announcement, Joel Williams, Prospective AM for Cardiff North added; "This is great news that Central Government have made additional funding available for Wales, but as Angela has pointed out it is down to Welsh Labour where the money gets spent. My view- spend it wisely on frontline services!"
